Skills Institute is a soccer program for kids who want to get started with soccer or take their game to the next level. Rooted in child development theory, these kids’ soccer classes teach children ages 5 to 12 years to have a blast learning and improving their technical and tactical soccer skills. Players will walk away more confident, equipped for their next right step, and ready for life’s challenges on and off the field. Players enjoy 30 minutes of age-appropriate instruction and 20 minutes of small-sided scrimmaging each week.

Bunnies (18 - 24 Months)

18 – 24 MONTHS: Bunnies (Parent-Child)

Often a child’s first experience with group learning, the Bunnies class is designed to give them a perfect start. Toddlers are playful, sometimes skittish and easily distracted but, with the right structure and interactions, a lot of learning can happen. Activities with bubbles, parachutes, cones and other sensory toys build skills for balance, coordination, running, tracking, kicking and changing directions—all building blocks needed for playing soccer.

Thumpers (2 - 3 years)

2 – 3 yrs: Thumpers (Parent-Child)

In the Thumpers class, kids begin to learn to actively engage in parallel play with other toddlers and their coach. Hang out enough with this group of older toddlers and you will hear the word “why” a lot. In these classes we welcome their inquisitive nature and sense of wonderment in learning. We use those traits to shape confidence and self-esteem to further build core movements like balance, coordination and timing–all necessary for mastering a soccer ball.

Cottontails (2½ - 3½ years)

In the Cottontails class, preschoolers who are not quite ready to be on the field alone discover some independence. Terrible twos? Not in our opinion! Though toddler behavior can be puzzling, these little ones are just trying to put the pieces together to grow into the person they are meant to be. The goal is to get them to be more interactive with the coach, to play with (rather than alongside) their peers and to engage in the game. We do so with fun and engaging games that help them begin to master movement and ball control all while slowly gaining independence over the course of the season.

Hoppers (3 & 4 years)

3 & 4 yrs: Hoppers (Beginners)

In Hoppers classes, the kids are raring to go but need lots of direction. Preschoolers have a hard time sharing, but we help get them there. After all, soccer is all about give-and-take. The goal of these classes is to create teammates who are coachable and eager to learn. Creative storylines and animated coaches keep kids engaged and having fun. They won’t even know they’re working hard and learning. They’ll come away with important skills for soccer and beyond.

Jackrabbits (3 & 4 years)

The Jackrabbits Intermediate 3 & 4 year old class is fun and fast-paced. Kids in this group are naturally a little more competitive or have previous class experience. Buckle up! These preschoolers are eager for action and ready to learn. With a curriculum chock full of imaginative games and adventures, these players are going to have a blast and won’t even realize just how much they’re learning.

Big Feet (5 & 6 years)

Big Feet classes are for kids who are just getting introduced to organized soccer or who are less competitive by nature but want a great soccer experience. We get that and Big Feet classes are perfect for these kids. The class will start with adventurous and imaginative games before introducing small sided scrimmaging toward the end of the season.
